Though Jeep has kept details of the changes coming to the new edition of its beloved Jeep Wrangler under fairly tight wraps, enthusiastic Jeep lovers around the world are starting to hear more about its features. We couldn't be more excited about the pending introduction of the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler, expected late this coming fall. And what's more, we can expect to see a pickup version at some point!
For 2018, Jeep will be fitting the Wrangler with an available 2.4L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. The so-called Hurricane direct-injection engine will be able to deliver up to 300 hp in its base model iteration, and it will be wedded to an available 8-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine, meanwhile, will be a 3.6L Pentastar V6.
As the Jeep lineup and the Wrangler in particular continue to grow beyond its traditional fan-base and attract more urban motorists as well as make further inroads overseas (European and Asian markets have been proving to be strong growth areas for Jeep), the 2018 Wrangler will also feature a slightly softened suspension and be more fuel-efficient than ever. No need to worry, however: it will still feature the off-road-friendly solid axles that are so popular with its many fans.
A Wrangler Pickup?
Long rumoured and highly anticipated, the pickup version of the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler will not be introduced simultaneously with the regular version, but Jeep continues to intimate that a production version may be ready by late next year. Jeep lovers may remember that the automaker first introduced the Gladiator, a truck concept based on the Wrangler, at Detroit's auto show in 2015. And you may even own one of those customization-friendly JK Wranglers that many owners have had customized into a CJ8-style truck! Now Jeep is very possibly going to produce its own pickup version, and we feel the wait will be well worth it!
We expect in the coming weeks to have more details regarding the features and technological advances Jeep is planning for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, as well as pricing. And of course we'll be sharing that info with you as soon as we've got it. We are your go-to place for Jeeps in British Columbia, and we intend to be the same for your 2018 Jeep Wrangler!
