Brought back for the 2016 model-year, the beloved Viper performance car is now available for 2017! The new 2017 Dodge Viper offers plenty of what the rest - hello Ford Mustang Shelby, hello Porsche 911 GT3 - can only aspire to. And what is that plenty?
The 8.4L V10 under the hood of the all-new Viper provides 645 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque, which is unmatched by any naturally aspirated production car engine on the market. This produces such speed and acceleration that the 2017 Dodge Viper SRT edition has set lap records at no fewer than nine different race tracks in the United States. The Viper American Club Racer (ACR) edition, meanwhile, is fitted with carbon ceramic brakes with Brembo 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, 10-setting race-tuned suspension and 3-inch height adjustment; it is the fastest street-legal Viper ever built.
The TREMAC six-speed manual transmission harnesses the engine's awesome power using close shifting ratios and cutting-edge technology to ensure a ride that's all controlled exhilaration, no matter what type of road you're on. And it translates into 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 3.5 seconds, as well as a ridiculous top track speed of 332 km/h.
The new Dodge Viper features an overall design infused with the spirit of top-level racing. The design team at Dodge also put it on a diet, by integrating light-weight carbon-fibre components for the hood, roof and deck lid as well as using aluminum for the doors. The iconic Viper fender gills are also back, and serve the very practical purpose of extracting heat from the engine to enhance performance.
Race-minded interior universe
The 2017 Dodge Viper GTS trim comes standard with Nappa leather-wrapped surfaces, while the GTC features leather-faced seats with Alcantara suede inserts. Also available are high-grip leather seats with suede inserts (including either red or silver accent stitching).
For 2017 Dodge continues the popular tradition of offering Viper models that are heavily customizable. The Viper GTC, for example, is completely custom-built, with the possibility of some 25 million unique combinations. Like snowflakes, no two are alike.Options include custom racing stripes, interior trims and 8,000 (!) hand-painted exterior colours. Even the instrument panel badge is unique for each buyer. Then there's the five special 25th anniversary editions Dodge put out for 2017: the Viper Snakeskin Edition ACR, the Viper 1:28 Edition ACR, the Viper VoooDoo II Edition ACR, the Viper Snakeskin Edition GTC, and the Viper GTS-R.
